About CATCH

Centre for Autism Therapy, Counselling and Help (CATCH) is a small group of parents of autistic children who have come together to set up an organization at Bhubaneswar,Orissa,India.

CATCH started its activities during the month of September 2003 and therapy for the affected children was confined to the weekends. Subsequently, with effect from November 2003 the centre started functioning on a regular basis and is operating from a three room rented premises.

As a principle CATCH believes in involving one of the parents in the entire process to ensure that the child's activities at home follow the same pattern as at the centre.

CATCH believes that sharing of experience among the parents is an extremely important factor to cope with common behavioural problems of autistic children.

CATCH is attempting to ensure that the child learns to understand his immediate environment and relates himself to the necessities of day-to-day existence. Imparting self-Help skills for leading a normal life style is the major challenge for CATCH.

It has a small collection of books and literature on the subject which is intended to be expanded as a full fledged library in future. The toys and materials available at the centre form a part of "Toy Library" and can be borrowed by the parents for use at home.
